There are so many offers on social media that it could be easy to ignore them or simply scroll on by. But I don’t. I usually pay attention to how a person promotes. Most of the time I can recognize when the person promoting is out there for their own benefit or if they have something truly valuable to share.
If I can do this with social media promos, it stands to reason that a recruiter would be equally good at recognizing when an applicant is only committed to finding a paycheck and when they have something truly valuable to offer a company.
In my experience the term “self promotion” is a misnomer. Yes, companies need to know who you are but more critical is knowing what you can do for them
If you are considering asking for a promotion or finding a new job, two of the most important questions you can ask yourself are, “What problems do I solve and who do I serve.”
