Joan of Arc was a peasant girl living in a village in northern France. The English had taken over several villages and people were having to escape their homes. Joan believing she heard voices of God went to the King of France and convinced him to let her lead troops into battle against the English. Dressed in white she lead the way to victory only to be burned at the stake as a witch. 20 years after her death she was canonized as the Patron Saint of France.
When I was in college I had the opportunity to play the role of Joan of Arc. What strikes me even now is her resilience in the face of danger to herself.
We can’t all be a Joan of Arc facing physical battles but every one of us has battles to fight whether internal or external.
What do you need in order to build your resilience and face your battles?
