Aaarrrrgh! Clare was stuck. She was working on the fifth version of her resume and cover letter in as many days. Her head was spinning. She couldn’t think.

Practically everyone I know has had days like Clare was having. Yes, me as well.

The number one thing I suggest people do in these situations is to take some deep breaths in to your belly, hold the breathe a few seconds and then breathe out through your mouth.

If that doesn’t help then it’s time to stop what you are doing and take a walk outside. If you can, make it a walk in nature. Walk with an awareness of everything around you. Take off your shoes and feel the grass.

Nature has a way of grounding us. Walking and breathing relax our muscles and our minds so we can think more clearly.
